Website OwnersBy: Seb Jay, Tue Dec 27th, 2005 01:15:01 AM In the world of search engine optimization (SEO) there is little doubt that keywords are a vital ingredient in a website's success. If the pages on a site are characterized by a combination of unique & relevant content and contain keywords to around 3% - 5% density, then you can guarantee that it will be well on its way to achieving some high search engine ranking results. Choosing the right keywords with which to optimize a site is of course central to its success. Traditionally, website owners have tended to focus on the promotion of a set of individual keywords that they feel are most likely to be used in searches by their target audience. This is fine and continues to stand as a core concept of SEO. However, times are now changing. It's no longer just 'OK' to think about individual keywords. If you want to achieve search engine ranking success in the future you need to start using two-word, three-word and even four-word keyword phrases - a fact that is borne out by the recent iProspect report on natural SEO keyword length. (Article continued below)
Published in November 2004, iProspect's study of search engine traffic in Fortune-1000 companies revealed a 12% increase in the amount of two-word searches performed, while over the same period single word searches declined by 12%. From the report it appears that we as web users are becoming more attuned to refining our search criteria, enabling us to find what we are looking for faster than we used to by using a string of search phrases instead of single words. Additionally, the report highlights the growth in three-word and four-word search phrases. Both show an increase of 2% between 2003 and 2004, while five-word searches have made a significant appearance within the last year too. For web site owners this is big news. No longer should the focus be on defining single keywords when optimizing web sites. Instead, owners should home in on a mix of single and multi-word keywords that tightly define the product and market, making the business more visible in search engines for the increasingly sophisticated web user. But if you, as a website owner, do not have the time, skill or funds to carry out the changes, how should you go about actually configuring your website for multi-word search phrases? The solution resides in establishing joint ventures with SEO experts and copywriters. Joint ventures with SEO experts and copywriters Joint ventures, by definition, are business collaborations between two or more people who wish to co-operate with each other for mutual gain. By putting in place joint ventures with an SEO expert and professional copywriter, you can benefit from the work of the professionals without having to pay for their services up front. Setting up these types of collaborations is easy. All you have to do is visit joint venture web portals like www.jvbase.com and register your requirements. You'll then gain access to databases that contain numerous SEO experts and professional copywriters that are available to work with you on this basis. It really is that simple! Good luck.
