Cialis claims to be more effective than Viagra. It works up to 36 Hrs. after dosage and therefore earned the nick name – ‘The Weekender’. The generic name of Cialis is Tadalfil. Cialis was launched by Eli Lilly and Icos in a joint venture.

Cialis (Tadalfil) is in a class of drugs called phosphodiesterase inhibitors that also include Sildenafil (Viagra) and Vardenafil (Levitra).FDA approved Tadalfil – Cialis in 2003 for the treatment of men who experience difficulty having and maintaining an erection.

Cialis (Tadalfil), an oral treatment for Erectile Dysfunction (ED) in men, is a selective inhibitor of cyclic quanosine monophosphate (cGMP) - specific phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE 5).

Generic Cialis:
There are variants of Cialis available in the market – they are called generic Cialis or generic Tadalfil. They have the same composition as the branded Cialis. The generic drug may look different because in the US, FDA does not allow it to look the same. Colors, flavors and certain other inactive ingredients may be different.

These Generic drugs or Generic Cialis are substantially cheaper than the branded drug and can come 60 – 80% cheaper than the branded drug as the generic drug manufacturer uses the platform created by the branded drug. It is not involved in research, clinical trials, promotion, etc., and is therefore able to market it products cheap. The prices fall down still further due to competition as many companies start producing and selling the generic drug.
