Stress Injuries and Your High Tech Gadgets

Are you obsessed with text messaging, video games or your BlackBerry?Even your cell phone with those tiny buttons can be causing your hand to hurt. Computers can give you physical problems. Did you know that when your eyes constantly focus on the monitor, you get stress injuries to the ocular muscles? You can also get keyboard stress injuries from too much typing. Computers have now become the number one cause of eye-stress problems. The reason for this is your eyes have to work much too hard to constantly read the text. Many computer workers have vision problems from spending hours and hours at their monitors.

Another cause for injury is the small buttons of the BlackBerry and cell phones. There is now a repetitive-stress injury title for this. It's called "BlackBerry thumb". When you over-do the use of these small items, you have to also give your hands a chance to rest. Kids also get these injuries from over-playing video games. But they heal faster than adults. If your kids are getting pain from video games or text messaging they could be doing damage that will be a problem when they grow-up. So try and not let them overdo it.

Things were much simpler in the olden days. No cell phones, no computers, no video games, no BlackBerry's. Then all you got if you wrote too much is writers cramp! Now when you compile all these high tech gadgets, you can get real problems. So to aviod the repetitive-stress injuries and tendinitis, take breaks when you are sitting at your computer. It is especially important for your eyes, even 5 minutes away can help.
