This is a list of questions from our readers (78% of whom are parents) from Russia, other former USSR republics, Germany, Baltic Countries and China (We gathered 32,000 email addresses from our subscribers, and asked them to list the information in which they were most interested. We received answers from 1,856 subscribers):

How the US & Canadian qualifications are recognized in the West (preferably in the UK and Europe)?

How do I apply to a UK, Australian, USA, Canadian, EU (preferably France, Germany, Denmark) university?

Is it possible to apply to a UK university without applying through UCAS?

Which university is best, and why? Since US law does not regulate official recognition of qualifications, why did some universities require the corresponding documents?

Where will I be able to do my English language test, and what level of knowledge is required to be a student in... (many education providers' names were given from UK, Australia, USA, Canada, EU)?

This university (many names were given from UK, Australia, USA, Canada, EU) has asked for a high school diploma and a 12-year school education. However, in Russia (and other republics) there is only 10 years of school. Does this university have a preparatory course for potential students, after which the university can accept a candidate for a Bachelor's degree?

Where will the student live? Are the dormitories single-sex? How far are they from the university campus, shopping, cinemas? What is the cost of transportation?  Are students allowed to have a car, and are their driving licenses lawful in (a selected state)?

What kind of rooms will be available?  What is the difference in cost for a single room?  How about toilet and bathroom facilities, etc? Is a landline telephone allowed in the student's room, and if so, how much is it?

Do the dorm rooms have a TV, computer, and access to the Internet (broadband)?

Can I bring my own notebook PC or will the university provide one? How much is the PC, TV?

Who will clean the dorm rooms, wash covers, etc.?  How much do I have to pay for this service?

Does the dormitory have a library, common room, rooms for study, swimming pool, gym, etc.? If it does, can you tell us the prices? Are there security posts in the living facilities? Are parents able to call security to check on their children?

Where will the children eat? Do they need to make food on their own? If so, does the dormitory have a kitchen?

Can I get the phone number of the tutor? How do they control the children: a) will the university send parents all the results (by semester), b) how can parents visit, c) what is the university's code of conduct, d) is there a time table and control of attendance, and e) is there a drug test on demand if parents request it?

Society: race?

Sex education and control, help?

How good are the medical facilities in the university? Where can students buy medical insurance? Does it have to be bought before a visa is issued?

Holidays: because it's so far and the costs are so high to fly home, where will children be during the holidays?  Who will organize work experience; does the university organize it for foreign students at this time?

Does a diploma in that university have rating higher than that of the most other universities in that country?

Does this profession have larger demand and provide possibilities for a permanent stay in the West? Is immigration possible after the course is completed?

Will the Russian credit card work in the US., UK., Australia, Canada, etc.? Which bank would you recommend?
